Independent adjuster (IA)
Also known as IA
An independent adjuster is a claims adjuster who works for insurers on a contract or per-claim basis rather than as an employee. Insurers draw on them for overflow, catastrophes, or specialist claims.
The independent adjuster market flexes with claim volume. Demand spikes after catastrophes and in tight labour markets. It faces the same experience and staffing pressures as in-house teams.
Why it matters
Leaning on IAs makes consistency harder, because decisions are spread across people outside your process. Encoding the rules is what keeps outsourced claims deciding the way in-house ones do.
In Mysa
Mysa applies your SOP and precedent to every claim, so a claim handled by an independent adjuster is decided on the same rails as one handled in-house.
